It’s safe to say that there was a surreal sense of unease, disconnect, and loneliness during the early months of 2020 and the Covid-19 Pandemic – especially in urban areas. I decided to play with a vintage manual focus lens, a very dense infrared filter, and black and white images to try and capture the feeling of that time. What came out of it was not only images that (I think) conveyed that sense of separation, but also very intimate images of life in that condensed world and a focus on the figures who were there in that time and space with me.
