AHC Toolbox
by
I was looking at the dock on the bottom of my computer screen yesterday and started thinking about the tools of a modern designer. I am still convinced that the most important tool in my arsenal is an imagination and my pencil, eraser and drawing pad, but the toolbox I dig into when completing the ideas in those initial sketches is pretty large.
In addition to a vast array of pencils, pens, markers and pads of paper my computer equipment is probably my most used tool. Right now that includes:
• 17″ MacBook Pro
• 22″ Samsung SyncMaster Monitor
• Epson Stylus Printer (which never seems to have ink, but the scanner is invaluable)
• 250GB WD external HD (Web/Design/Digital Illustration Archive)
• 750GB Seagate external HD (Photography Archive)
My most often used applications are:
• The Adobe Suite (Photoshop/Illustrator/Flash/Dreamweaver/InDesign/Bridge)
• Adobe LightRoom
• Office Suite
• Apple Video and Photo editing Software
• Final Cut Pro
• DVD Studio Pro
• Various Audio and Video format conversion tools
• Skype
• Transmit
• Firefox/Safari/IE/Word Press
In addition, I work in film and digital photography which requires even more equipment:
• Canon EOS 7D
• Canon EX430 Flash
• Canon 28-70mm 1:2.8
• Canon 100mm macro
• Canon 50mm 1:1.4
• Canon 70-200mm 1:4
• Sigma 10-20mm 1:4
• 20GB in CF cards
• Olympus Stylus 1030
• Bogen Tripod
• Bogen Monopod
• 2 x 5 in 1 Light Disc w/ Stand
And for those projects/clients that require a more vintage feel:
• Nikon EL2 (Black) w/ 50mm 1:1.4
• Nikon EL2 (Silver) w/ 50mm 1:1.4
• Vivitar 28mm 1:2.8 (Nikon Mount)
• Sunpak Nikon Mount Flash
• Holga 120mm medium format camera
• Minolta 7s Rangefinder
• Yashica Electro 35 GSN Rangefinder
• HP 35mm Film Scanner
Thats very good to know… thanks
